Meet the Volunteers
We believe it's important for our volunteers to be recognized!
Meet our most dedicated volunteers below!
Belle Zirkelbach
“I started volunteering for Forgotten Felines back in 2018! I primarily just foster neonatal kitties now, and occasionally assisting in trapping kittens and feral moms. Fostering neonatal kittens is far from easy, but watching them grow and find their forever homes makes it so worth it!”
Ann Nash Long
Ann has basically grown up in the Florida Keys and has always had a soft spot in her heart for all living animals, whether aquatic or land dwelling. Her friends joke that she is a collector of lost souls and some even call her a crazy cat lady. She is a colony Mom to a very lucky bunch of cats, and is an active participant in the TNR program in Marathon. All living creatures will thrive under her protective wing, possums and raccoons included. Her latest endeavor is helping our four legged friends and raising as much money as possible for worthy causes like Forgotten Felines.
Odalis Padron
"I’ve been trapping and caring for colony cats for over 20 years. I started this adventure with the original forgotten Felines. I have a big colony my self And I have found homes for so many of the kittens from my colony. My colony is one of the biggest colonies in Marathon. I go through about 4 bags of dry food a week."
Ben Schneierson
Do you know the cat man, Ben?
If you live in Marathon, you most likely do! Ben is highly passionate about cats and has fed multiple colonies throughout Marathon for over two decades. Ben purchases 40 - 22lb bags of dry meow mix cat food and 40 - cases of 9-lives pate wet food EVERY MONTH!
We are trying to get back to assisting him with his cost, as he shouldn’t be responsible for all of this alone.
Ben is quite a young man and cannot carry bags over a certain weight, which is the reason for the 22 lb bags.
